Q: I'm using Internet Explorer, and (only on the Google home page, not from the Google search box or any other search box) suggestions come up in a drop down window as I type. I know I can ignore it, but it is extremely annoying. I already have my Google and Internet Explorer settings set to not remember what I search and to not display it. Can anybody help? It is the suggestions box, and I agree that it is really annoying. I hope Google adds an option to lets us turn it off!
A: Some people are confusing Google "search history" with "suggestions." You can stop the Google drop down box for the search history in IE Content Tab, but this does nothing to stop the drop down box for suggestions. I have found no way to stop this suggestion drop down box from appearing and have complained to Google and asked for a method to turn the damned thing off.
