I really DONT KNOW much about computers, I'm still learning, but I wanted to give some examples of what I want to attempt to learn how to do and I dont know where to start looking on what the "name" of what I want is. so if someone could PLEASE nicely explain to me how people get and run websites like these (they maybe different, but to me they appear simlar): http://www.ehow.com/ http://www.paganspace.net/ My goal is to make a webpage of that sort, like a smaller version of myspace or paganspace where people can join. The very basics you need to learn in web design are: HTML XHTML CSS JavaScript-not essential but very handy Then it is best to learn PhP, as most forums, shopping sites use this code for databases and such. Is also a good idea to learn photoshop and illustrator as well as a bit of flash. As for courses in the States I don't know as I live in the UK and have just finished a degree in New Media Design and Technology.
