French

Q: If I wanted to trick a website into thinking I was in France, could I use a French proxy server? If so, where could I find one? Okay, I'm not very computer savvy. How would I use these proxies..? Thanks. Cheers Probablygraham Really helpful It's really slow, but it's better than nothing!

A: Try this list. It's updated regularly but there are no guarantees: http://www.samair.ru/proxy/proxy-01.htm There's a "sort by country" button in there somewhere. EDIT: Not sure about Vista but under XP you enter the proxy address (and port number) by ticking the box under Extras/Internet Options/Connections/LAN Configuration/Use Proxy server for LAN. Once you've put in the proxy address and port number, things will get very slow because everything you do is going through a server in France. You can (and should) untick the box to get your normal speed back, but the address will remain there in case you want to try it again. It is a bit of case of trial and error. Some proxy addresses don't work and some will give you weird error messages. Play around with it. Untick the box and everything will be normal.
